In my opinion, the Explorer II is just a better looking watch with casual clothes. The splash of color makes a huge, positive difference to me. Plus, I find the Explorer II more comfortable than the Sub due to the flatter case back. It's just a much less flashy, more discreet watch. It looks better in person than photos.Don't get me wrong, I think the modern polar Explorer II is one of the best Rolexes you can buy right now, even with the issues I've heard of from the 3186 calibre. On a RubberB strap, it's probably the most "non-Rolex" Rolex in the collection. That and the new Explorer with longer hands are both great.Turns out the Explorer II’s are still fairly undervalued compare to their big brothers, the Sub and GMT. Additionally, you would be forgiven for forgetting that Rolex makes a black dial version of the Explorer II, considering the popularity of the white Polar.
